Wilhelm Kurt Krejci

February 17, 1924 ~ June 20, 2007

Willi passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Willi is predeceased by his parents and eldest son, Edi. He is survived by Johanna, his loving wife of 59 years, daughter Silvia (Del), sons Roy (Brigitte) and Eric (Liz), grandchildren Tammy, Johanna, Stasia, Catrina, and great-grandchildren Brandon and Eric.

Willi was born in Vienna, Austria, where he trained as a machinist. In 1954 he sold his small fruit vending business to purchase boat passage to Canada. Working as a pipe fitter he saved enough money for his wife and children to join him in Vancouver. In 1957, the family moved to Black Creek. Willi was employed as a blacksmith at MacMillan Blodel Camp 5, but continued to hold on to his dream of owning his own business. By taking some extra welding work for evenings and weekends he gradually built Oyster River Engineering, a successful steel fabricating business. Oyster River Engineering was a credit to Willi’s high standard of excellence and hard work.

Willi loved fishing and camping. His boat, Siltajo, was a great source of pleasure in recent years. Not afraid to voice his ideas, a good debate was often had with Willi. His presence will be missed by the folks around Comox Marina.

At Willi’s request there will be no service. Flowers gratefully declined; donations may be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of choice. A special thank you to Dr. Millar and Dr. Gornall for their caring home visits.

Willi will be sorrowfully missed by his family and friends.
