RAE, William Allen
We are sad to announce the passing of our dear Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and Friend.
William Allen Rae passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at the age of 93 years.
He will be very lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 70 years, Joan; his two daughters: Arlene (Alex) Matkoski and Catherine Macaulay; his three grandchildren: Beverley (Danny) Webber, Wayne (Pam) Matkoski and Leslie (Raymond) Lasota. Allen is also survived by his five great-grandchildren: Lindsay and Leah Webber, Rebecca and Kaitlyn Lasota and Jenna Matkoski.
Allen was born on October 1, 1913 in New Port, BC, now known as Squamish. He met Joan as a teenager and on March 23, 1936 they were married. They lived in Squamish for six years before they moved to Northern Vancouver Island, settling in Englewood, where Allen worked on the railroad for CANFOR. He retired as an Engineer on the Diesel Locomotive #303 after 36 years of dedicated service. He retired to Courtenay where he and Joan enjoyed many years of walking, gardening and spending many happy hours with their family.
At Allen’s request, no service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Allen’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital, 2137 Comox Avenue, Comox, BC V9M 1P2.
