MCGLASHAN, William “Bill” Steven

July 14, 1959 – April 11, 2010

Bill left the stage before his performance was over. His sudden passing brings sorrow to all who knew this lifelong Comox Valley resident. He was an avid musician, music teacher, gooey duck diver, worked for DND, school district employee, wine maker, jokester, loyal son, dedicated brother, uncle, husband, father and special friend to many. Bill was born in Vancouver and raised in the Comox Valley. Music, Scouting and hockey kept him busy in his childhood and he graduated from Vanier in 1977.

His gooey duck diving adventures took him to Zeballos where he met his soul mate, Bonnie. The newlyweds spent a brief stint as flatlanders living in Cold Lake, Alberta, which resulted in their cherished son Benson’s birth. The Comox Valley lured them back where they raised their son, reunited with friends and family and continued their joyous journey.

Bill’s passion for music was obvious to all. His participation in bands thru the years included CAMPA, Music Factory, Grey Power, Strange Love, CFB Cold Lake Marching Band, Fahrenheit, The Valiants and XLR8.

Entrusted to carry on his cherished memories are: his best friend, lover and wife of 22 years, Bonnie, their only child, their pride and joy, Benson Lyle, parents Ray and Ann McGlashan, sister Cindy, brother Gary, and nephews Matthew and Steven, Roman and Martin, Carl and Nelson.

His legacy will carry on thru his selfless donation to the BC Organ Transplant Society where he gave the gift of life to at least 5 recipients.

Please join us in a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the D’Esterre Hall at the Comox Senior Center, 1801B Beaufort Ave., Comox.

Bill’s parents will graciously open their home at 2077 Hector Road, Comox, after the celebration, for all who wish to share more stories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local charity YANA or to the Transplant Research Foundation of BC, West Tower 3rd Floor 555 W 12th Ave., Vancouver, BC V5Z 3X7 www.transplant.bc.ca
