December 22, 1939 - July 23, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Dad, William (Bill) Urquhart. Dad was born in Comox Hospital on December 22, 1939, and he passed peacefully July 23, 2021 at hospice with Martha, the resident cat by his feet, and holding the hands of two of the lovely hospice ladies he became quite attached to.
Dad is preceded by his mother Marion, father Ivan and step-father Duane Landers.
He is survived by his daughters and families of Williams Lake, BC, Karey (Tom) Hooker, Donna (Ed) Gerbracht and grandchildren Dean (Ashley) Hooker, Kendra (Scott) Drebit and Brett Hooker, siblings Beverly Fisher, Donny (Bobbie) Urquhart and Leona (George) Timmins of Courtenay and Nanaimo, as well as nieces and nephews.
Dad loved to walk by the ocean daily and grab a coffee with his buddies every Thursday. He was a professional truck driver most of his life for Tayco Paving and loved golf and carpentry. Dad lived most of his life on Vancouver Island with a short stint in Horsefly, BC.
He fought a hard battle with a stoic nature and kept his dignity until the very end. The ladies at hospice loved Dad, he was so grateful for them and their kindness as well as his favorite hospice cat Martha.
The family will hold a small personal ceremony in Williams Lake and so we ask that all who knew Dad raise a glass of beer in his honor and celebrate his life in their own special way. The family would like to send out a special thank you to Mark Kardos, a treasured friend of Dad's.
Forever missed and forever loved. Donations in Bill's memory to the Canadian ALS Society or Hospice appreciated.
