ROSS

Bill (William Robert)

1949 ~ 2009

Passed away Thursday October 15th, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox. Bill leaves behind his deeply saddened family: Jo, his wife of 35 years, son Rob, daughter Andi (Tim), beloved grandchildren Charlotte and Oliver, mother-in-law, Liz Stubbs, sisters Pat Brandl and Robert Bavis both of Vancouver and many Ross/Stubbs nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill grew up in Kitsilano (Vancouver). In 1971 he accepted a teaching position at Village Park Elementary in Comox with plans to spend a year in the country before returning to Vancouver. Needless to say he fell in love with the Valley, his soon to be wife and life partner and never left. Bill’s career as a teacher in Comox was always a passion, never a job. The lives he touched, the generations of kids that he taught over his 36 years brought him endless joy and reward.

Bill’s love of being out on the water, (buzz bombing with his buddy Nick) led to summers of running his sports fishing charter business and many a trip with his friends on their commercial boats, even a brief experience as a commercial fisherman one summer with Gord on the Diane S.

Arr Be Dar .... have you ever been to sea Billy??

... As Gordie always said, “the measure of your life is reflected by the stories”.

Football... (the trip to Dallas with Rob to watch his Cowboys... was the dream of a lifetime for Bill), friends... and many a BBQ, with laughter, great food, wine and songs was Bill’s style. His love for his family and friends was unmeasurable.

“To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides”.

David Viscott.
