Bill was born on October 7th, 1939, in Indian Head Saskatchewan. He passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, in Comox, BC on January 21st, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cardiac amyloidosis and pulmonary fibrosis.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jean, sons Tim (Suzanne), of North Vancouver and Bob, of West Kelowna and daughter Elizabeth (Pierre), of Courtenay, as well as four wonderful grandchildren: Jenna, Cassidy, Kayla (Tim & Suzanne), Nicholas [Shakti] (Elizabeth & Pierre), his brothers; Lorne of Regina and Norman (Deanna) of Saskatoon, as well as many loved nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
Bill retired from a Public Sector Administration and Finance career in 1994 that saw he and his family live across Canada from Saskatchewan to Ontario, the Northwest Territories and British Columbia (Castlegar, Tumbler Ridge, Vancouver). Upon retirement, Bill and Jean settled in Royston, BC.
Two of Bill's favorite places were their beautiful ocean front home of 25 years on Gartley Beach in Royston and the summer cabin at Christina Lake, where Bill and Jean enjoyed many special times with their grandchildren engaged in all variety of water activities.
In retirement, Bill (and Jean) continued his active lifestyle with running, curling, hiking, golfing, fishing, skiing, and traveling across North America in their beloved Volkswagen Westfalia. Bill also took up piano and yoga for many years, always challenging himself to learn new things.
Bill would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who provided such good care during his years of treatment.
There will be no service as per Bill's wishes, and the family will celebrate his life at a future date. Bill will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him.
