REIMER

William (Bill)

May 1, 1921 - April 3, 2008

On Thursday, April 3, 2008, Bill passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years of Pulmonary Fibrosis. We rejoice in the fact that Bill is now with his Lord and Saviour whom he loved dearly.

Bill was born May 1, 1921 in Webb, Saskatchewan. After traveling around Canada working at various jobs, he began working at Port Alice pulp mill where he eventually became a cook in the digester department. In 1958 he married Nina Lois Botheras, settled down, and together they raised their family in Port Alice. In 1989 Bill and Nina bought a townhouse in Comox and moved there for their retirement. Bill was active in the church, men's breakfast and community events. He was a very handy guy, always giving of his time and skills in fixing cars and other things, and doing odd jobs around the complex until he was no longer able. He had a sense of humour - always told the same jokes. He was a really good pool player. When his kids were teenagers they got a pool table and within two weeks he was a pool shark again. Both of his children and all his grandchildren shared his passion for the game.

Bill is predeceased by his sisters, Margaret, Christina (Tena) and Helen and his brothers, Henry, John, and Robert (Bob). He is survived and lovingly missed by his wife Nina of 49 years, brothers Jake (Louise) of Kelowna, Peter of Pt. Coquitlam, sister Anne Johnson of Powell River, son Ronald of Port Alice, daughter Cheryl of Abbotsford, grandsons Matthew, Jason, and David and his granddaughter Darsi. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Our family thanks St. Joseph's Hospital staff, Dr. Anderson, the home care staff, Pastor Peter Rabey and Piercy's Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life was held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 8th, 2008 at Courtenay Fellowship Baptist Church followed by a reception.

The family deeply regrets missing the deadline for this announcement to be printed before the Memorial Service took place. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and discomfort caused to any and all of his friends in the community that we have missed informing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons, in Bill's name, or a charity of your choice.
