HEYBROEK

Winsome Aileen "Sandy"

Sandy passed peacefully away on February 25, 2008 at home in Courtenay. She leaves her loving husband Bill, a sister Fern (Floyd) in Florida, brother Glenn (Margaret) in Chetwynd, B.C.. She was predeceased by a younger brother John (Dianne). Sandy was an accomplished artist and many of her paintings in both oils and acrylics can be found across Canada and the United States. For more than 25 years she travelled to the remote Indian Villages in northern B.C. and the Queen Charlotte Islands to sketch and paint the ancient totem poles that remained. She loved to travel with Bill in their 16 foot boat to the many beautiful islands and inlets that surround Vancouver Island and also tour in their camper-truck throughout the west. For a number of years she ran a popular little store that sold arts and crafts supplies in Courtenay called "Sandy's House of All-Sorts".

Very special thanks to Doctor David Musgrave and the wonderful and compassionate nurses and caregivers who attended Sandy over the last few years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Comox Valley Funeral Home, 1101 Ryan Road in Courtenay at 1:30 pm. Please donate to a charity of choice in lieu of flowers.
