Wynona "Nonie" Wilson

Wynona (Nonie) Wilson of the Comox Valley, B.C., 69, passed away peacefully the afternoon of December 5, 2019 with her loving family and dearest friends by her side.
Wynona was born in Ladner, BC, and spent her teens in Woss Lake before moving to the Comox Valley in 1975. She spent her final years in Southern Vancouver Island to be close to her youngest grandchildren. Nonie brought an honest, authentic presence, beautiful smile and a caring heart to her family and friends. A smile and a presence that said, "it's all going to be okay. I'm here for you." She touched many with an intense light and love whether she was hairdressing (where she was at once artist, stylist, counselor and friend), to massage therapy and hypnotherapy, to a mom to many (where she would open her home and her arms to friends, family, and strangers alike). Nonie gave of herself through her kindness, generosity, zaniness and humour. She truly reached so many lives that during her final moments there were stories after stories being shared, alters erected, get togethers being arranged, prayers being said, people from all over held her in all the ways she liked to support others. She will be dearly missed.
Though her body failed due to cancer, her spirit remains forever radiant. In characteristic fashion, she continued to shine brightly and embody strength even in her final hours, even finding peace and a sense of fun amidst her assisted passing. She brought smiles to people all around her and demonstrated a courage most of us will never know. She continues to care for and encourage us from beyond with her brilliant smile and boldness. Our memories of her will forever warm our hearts.
Nonie is survived by her daughters, Keli, Amber and Emma, her grandchildren Corbin, Dakota, Gaia, Rowan and Ira, as well as siblings Barbara, Wendy, Jack and Jim, their families, children and grandchildren.
A gathering in Nonie's honour will be held at the Courtenay Fish & Game Club (3780 Colake Road) on March 28th at 2:00 pm and all are welcome. Nonie's wish was that people share a funny story or memory about her, so bring your crazy stories.
