1924 – 2008
After a courageous battle with emphysema, it is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Yvonne Carroll, at sunrise, Thursday, November 13, 2008.
Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Carroll, both parents, Mollie Patterson and William Cann, her older sisters Dorothy MacKinnon and Noreen Colford. Yvonne will be sadly missed by her surviving brothers Edwin, George, Gerald and Johnny Cann; son and daughter, Earl and Linda Carroll and their respective spouses Elaine Rose and Philip Parsons; as well as grandchildren Chris Cochrane, Crystal Rose, Landon Rose; and five great-grandchildren. Yvonne also leaves behind many caring cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends and acquaintances.
Besides being a wonderful mother, wife, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, Yvonne was a very proud public servant in telecommunications, a matriculated Red Cross Lifesaving and Cardio Pulmonary expert and teacher, the Aquatic Program Manager at CFB Cold Lake, AB, before moving to Comox Valley in 1969 with her family for retirement. Yvonne was an honorary life member at Comox d’Esterre House Seniors Center where she was a friend, colleague and volunteer, best known as the “Flower Lady” and later, following her husband’s death in 2005, a resident at Berwick Retirement Community, where many knew her as the “Puzzle Lady”.
A drop-in “Remembrance Tea” will be held to celebrate her life on her birthday, Wednesday, November 19, 2008, Berwick at 2:00-4:00 pm, 1700 Comox Avenue.
We will miss you Mom.
