Help improve the lives of post-secondary students on Vancouver Island this May by sharing your input on North Island College’s proposed Strategic Priorities and Goals.

We want to know what you think NIC is doing well and what we need to change over the next five years to improve student success.

The B.C. government projects one million job openings across the province between 2012 and 2022 – with 78 per cent of those jobs requiring post-secondary education. We need to prepare the next generation of health-care professionals, tradespeople, artists, social workers, business leaders and university graduates to work in our communities.

Over the past six months, NIC staff, administrators and faculty have created nine strategic priorities they’d like to focus on in our college planning. That plan, called NIC Plan 2020, will help shape how we deliver NIC programs and services for the next five years.

Throughout our planning process it was clear student success and their experiences are at the centre of all we do at NIC.

A few of the priorities include: high-quality, responsive programs and curriculum; access to learning and services across the region; resources, investment and sustainability; as well as more active connections to the community.

But I want to hear more.

The college needs to hear from as many people and organizations as possible so we can carefully consider your ideas before NIC’s Board of Governors approves the College Plan at the end of June.

We’ve created a website designed to encourage your feedback online at nic.bc.ca/NICPlan2020

This month, I’m also hosting a local Community Town Hall meetings to gather your ideas. Please join me.
