Drowning in debt

There is something very wrong with requiring thousands of dollars just to attend college or university.

Dear editor,

There is something very wrong with requiring thousands of dollars just to attend college or university.

I am a student in B.C. and we are paying near the highest tuition fees in the country.

The problem with high fees is that it doesn't matter how much money you or your family has — everyone is charged the same. And since that amount is always increasing, a lot of people are no longer able to pursue their education specifically because they do not have the money to front for the chance of a better and more fulfilling life.

This seems like the least fair way to go.

My generation is constantly told that we need to continue our education if we want a chance to get one of the few jobs out there. Why are making it so difficult for those who need it the most?

I hope that politicians will come to their senses and give more funding to education to really help students. It can only help the Canadian economy and future generations of Canadians.
