Friends of clam, kelp concerned about coal

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

In order to express our deep concern over the Raven Coal development, a group of concerned Baynes Sound citizens have formed an organization known as the Friends of Clams and Kelp. We the Friends of Clams and Kelp feel that the benefits of the Raven Coal project (such as increased economic activity, high-paying mining jobs, etc.) would be more than offset by the increased risk of pollution and prostitution.

After all as has been pointed out in previous correspondence there is an abundance of “green” minimum wage jobs available in local big box retail stores such as Walmart, Home Depot, Costco, etc. where nearly every product sold originates in China.

Baynes Sound can and should become a fully carbon-, nuclear weapons-, and industry-free zone.

Jackie Williams,

Fanny Bay
