In agreement with Jangula on air quality culprit

Dear editor,

I agree with Mayor Jangula on many of the points in your March 7 article, and also agree the biggest culprit is slash burning. I don’t understand why BC Air Quality regulations aren’t being followed or enforced - it limits the occasions for burning to times when the smoke may not be trapped over the city.

Many people still need to burn wood for heat, and some for cooking as well to save on BC Hydro bills - these are necessities. Slash burning is not a necessity.

That said, I note four or five large piles of slash wait- ing to be lit up, right behind the police station on Ryan Road. Perhaps this is where we start looking after our air quality.
