It's unfortunate that Cumberland lost Big Time Out Festival

Dear editor,

Re: Big Time Out: Version 2.0 (Record, Aug. 10).

As a Cumberland local, I find it unfortunate that the Cumberland businesses have to suffer from the change of locations.

I am sure that it will still bring tourists into Cumberland but not in the same way as when it is directly located here. It seems apparent that Village Works is making a serious effort to make this event as secure and safe as possible and nothing can be done beyond that. Even with maximum security there is still room for things to go wrong and there is always danger in everything we as humans do and maybe more so in party events where people are getting together in large numbers and letting loose but I know for myself that I do not want to live in a world were we opt out on greatness for safety's sake.

The last thing that I would like to say about the event is I think it is silly to make it an alcohol-free event at this point because all this does is push the drinkers into a bad light.

I believe everybody in our village and in our world can co-exist and enjoy each other's company whatever their preferred way of recreation.
