Letter: A ‘rescue mission’ to India

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

I hear the Conservative opposition leader, Andrew Scheer, is going to meet the right-wing Conservative Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “repair damage” allegedly done to Canada’s image by our Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Scheer is convinced Trudeau and his family caused harm that only he can rectify when they chose to dress in Indian traditional garb during their February family vacation. I remember when our very own former PM Stephen Harper wore a suit but was sporting a traditional orange bandana when he last visited India. No one made fun of that interesting juxtaposition of Western to Indian culture.

I’m sure our MP Scheer will be given very good and flattering coverage by the very same India right-wing-leaning press, which covered our PM’s visit last February.
