LETTER: Bridges can be built without devastating effects on wildlife

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

While I appreciate Mr. Horgen’s Watershed Society concern regarding a third crossing south of 17th street (Project Watershed opposes any river crossing south of 17th Street, July 17 letter), I can assure you there are several bridges in the world built across wetlands and they work just fine and the environment survived.

Proper construction engineering and design can alleviate most concerns and allow the watershed to continue its work, perhaps even enhance it.

Putting a crossing at the end of 29th street makes the most sense, and can only alleviate the carbon footprint by allowing for free flow of traffic. Putting a bridge elsewhere is an exercise in futility.
