LETTER: Empathy for Fanny Bay senior

Dear editor,
8820576_web1_170816-HTO-letter-to-editor_1--1-

Dear editor,

One feels for Mr. Kisiloski (Senior feels he has been unfairly treated by assessment office, Letters, Sept. 26), who seems to have been badly treated by the Government Assessment Office.

However, his penultimate sentence is troubling:

“I received an e-mail from the Courtenay office lawyer saying if I went to the media I could be subject to civil action.”

If a citizen lays open to the public his perception of bad treatment by, say, an arm of government – be he in the right or no – can such a threat even be legal? And if the threat is illegal, should not the lawyer’s professional body be concerned?

Colin Park,

Comox
