LETTER: Liberal Party did the right thing by dismissing Plecas

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

Many people are siding with Dr. Plecas after he choose to take the Speaker chair. This ended with him being dismissed from the party.

I have read many letters that discuss the Liberals and their “true colours”- however, the initial decision to expel Plecas didn’t come from the BC Liberals, it came from the riding association where Dr. Plecas was elected.

When Christy Clark lied, the left constantly called for her dismissal, charges to be laid against her, etc. When Harper and Trudeau lied, people call for their dismissals. Why should one politician be any different? Are the Libs not doing what people have been expecting of the parties for so long? This is seen in the recent lawsuits against Premier Horgan and MP Rachel Blaney. Again, with the left’s constant calls for Clark to be charged, where are they now that their leader, who ruined someone’s reputation, is being punished appropriately?

In summary, the BC Liberal Party made the right move. They listened to their constituents after a party member accepted a job he had promised he wouldn’t. A promise that Dr. Plecas made directly to his constituents and the province of BC. I applaud the BC Liberal Party and their decision.
