LETTER: Problems at new hospital were entirely predictable

Dear editor,

The present problems of our new hospital were entirely predictable when the Island Health plan for long-term care facilities collapsed. Without new long-term care space and strengthened home-care, the overcrowding in the new hospital will continue. We cannot wait for five years for improvement in these areas. Maybe now is the time for the Minister of Health to audit the performance of Island Health and the conditions in our hospital. We do not want to experience here the same disaster that occurred in Nanaimo.
