Deadline looming to oppose new Civic Centre

Dear editor,

Here we are in the middle of summer.

Many people in the regional district are away on holidays.

The last thing on anyone’s mind is the thought that our regional district is attempting to fleece the electorate once again. But the plain truth is that our regional government is attempting to use the alternative voting process to borrow $11 million to build a state of the art palace to house the regional district empire.

The only way to prevent this is to go to the regional district offices, pick up a form, sign and return this form to the regional district offices before the Aug. 18 deadline. We must have 10 per cent of the eligible voters sign and return this form in order to prevent them from just going out and borrowing this money with no consultation with the electorate. Remember this is the same process we had to go through to prevent the garbage referendum from becoming a fact of life.

Unfortunately, time is short and these forms must be picked up, signed and returned in what is a very short period of time. If you don’t want to be fleeced once again this has to happen and quickly.
