Mandela deserves to be honoured

Dear editor,

Civilization is about to lose one of history's giants.

Dear editor,

Civilization is about to lose one of history’s giants.

Most of us travel around the sun content in our own world oblivious to the plight of our fellow travellers, not so this leader, Nelson Mandela, of his people and inspiration to the world.

Canada, so impressed by his resolve to right a massive wrong, offered Mandela an honourary citizenship and he honoured us by accepting it. I expect that when this great man dies Canada will honour his memory and give him the respect due by the lowering of our flag throughout the land.

Mel McLachlan,

Comox
