Need a platform, candidates? Here are three ideas

Dear editor, I would love to hear any of the federal parties put these three ideas on the table to help lower our national debt and taxes.

Dear editor,I would love to hear any of the federal parties put these three ideas on the table to help lower our national debt and taxes.1. Get rid of the Governor-General. The position is only a figurehead. We are an independent country. Why should we have to pay a representative of Britain’s queen?2. Abolish the Senate. This is only a reward for those who support the two major powers. The “hours” that most senators put in is a joke. The Senate is a waste of our tax dollars.3. Pass into law that politicians must work as long as everyone else in this country before drawing a pension. Twenty years seems like a nice fair number.Furthermore, the percentage of the pay they are entitled to should be the same as other government workers, two per cent per year that they worked (i.e., work for 22 years and get 44 per cent of your six best years’ pay as pension).Plus, their pension has to be clawed back at age 65 like everyone else and their pension would be taxed the same as ours.Gerry Fairbrother,Courtenay
