Dear editor,If Courtenay doesn’t proceed with a downtown homeless shelter as planned, it will miss an opportunity to create a model for other towns to follow, by showing that a shelter and its residents can be successfully integrated into the community. With thoughtful design and good management, it can be presentable and also make a contribution to local society. Are its detractors saying the homeless don’t deserve such consideration? They’re not showing much respect to those in need.J. Cates,Comox
