Reader not impressed with Liberals or Black Press

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

Happily, I note that a March 30 Record editorial, Liberals campaigning on the public dime, called out the Christy Clark Liberals on campaign advertising funded by BC taxpayers.

But it’s not just taxpayer funded advertising that promotes the Liberals and Clark. It’s articles in the conservative Black Press Record doing the same. Turn to page A39 in the same issue of the Record and read just how wonderful the Liberals are. They are providing SD71 with infrastructure money and are funding 2600 more teacher positions.

Read further and on page A40 find the Liberal government supporting North Island College’s aquaculture program.

Gee, ain’t the BC Liberals just wonderful? They deserve elevation to sainthood. Not!

In fact, they, like the federal Liberals, are being scrutinized for the source of their campaign contributions and Clark’s corporate fundraising.

We remember, Ms. Clark, that you’ve spent the better part of four years sucking the life out of public education, impoverishing post-secondary students, and dismantling public health care.

We remember, Ms. Clark, that while spitting on public education, you’ve sent your own child to private school. We remember, Ms. Clark, how post-secondary institutions have, out of necessity, increased student tuition and fees because of the Liberal’s dwindling support of higher education. And we remember, Ms. Clark, how you yanked the rug out from under programs designed to decrease wait-time programs while contracting surgeries to private clinics.

We remember. No amount of taxpayer supported advertising or Record articles masquerading as journalism will make us forget.

Come May 9, the voters will show you just how long our memories are.

Pat Carl
