I would like to bring your attention to an ongoing battle between the City of Courtenay and Valley View Elementary.
It seems like Valley View Elementary may lose the new kindergarten modular that was to come to the school and possibly lose the Wee Care service that is currently at our school.
The dispute is over traffic issues and the fact that the City of Courtenay would like an additional 50 or so parking spaces added to the Valley View school parking lot.
As chair of the PAC at the school, I understand that there is a traffic issue surrounding the school as it is something comes up over and over at our monthly meetings. And I understand that the city has asked the school district to address on-going safety issues.
But nobody is willing to move forward on the issue as it stands and the parents are just asking for assistance from everyone to make this happen so we don't lose our Wee Care.
