Saturday, March 2 will be an amazing night of pro wrestling for the Comox Valley. One of the feature matches that has local implications will be the Fans Bring the Weapons Match between Barry Goode and the Comox Valley’s Keith ” Kaos” Spinks.

Spinks retired from the ring due to dealing with multiple injuries six years ago after the first Slams for Sebastian fundraiser show. Ironically, in his last match, Kaos teamed up with then friend Goode. Not long after, following Slams for Sebastian 2, their friendship soured and Goode suddenly started bad mouthing Kaos and his hometown. Retired and trying to deal with nagging injuries, Spinks took the high road and ignored it. This seemed to infuriate Goode and he ramped up his insults and personal attacks on not just Kaos but the whole local community. Three years ago, radio personality Rock Dawg Andrew Davis had enough and stepped into the ring against Goode with Spinks being his ringside mentor. True to form, Goode insisted on a stipulation that Kaos couldn’t touch him then blindsided him and split the retired grappler’s head open. Again, Spinks took the high road, was the better man and turned the other cheek. Never shy to express his disdain for Spinks, Davis or the Comox Valley, Goode took trash talking to a new low when the PWA decided to honour Kaos with an award for the charity work he did over the years and had the Rock Dawg present it. For weeks, Goode threatened to ruin the celebration and when the time came on Feb 2, he didnt show up in person but did send Nolan James in to attack Spinks and Davis with a steel chair. And thats when Kaos snapped and demanded that Barry Goode face him March 2 in a Fans Bring the Weapons Match! James agreed on Goode’s behalf and now local fans will get the opportunity to finally see their most despicable detractor face the music.

Keith “Kaos” Spinks is excited to return to the ring one more time but after 6 years, knows he faces some challenges. “Some people have asked me why I’m doing this. And I get it. I’m 49 years old, i’ve suffered alot of physical damage over the years and had to retire because of it. But I also have something that doesn’t lessen with age or injury and thats heart. Passion. And admittedly, stubbornness and pride. Pride for myself, my family, my friends and my hometown. Barry Goode has been attacking all of these things for over 5 years and enough is enough. How can I continue to ignore it and let him keep spewing out his hateful nonsense and then tell my 8 yr old son that bullying is not ok and that he needs to let us know when he is affected by bullies so they can face consequences. I need to show him, my older children, all the people that Barry has insulted, attacked and made fun of that he will face consequences for his actions. March 2, I will be walking to the ring one more time to do just that!”

Barry Goode has some things to say about his March 2 fight with Kaos and not surprisingly, they are some pretty strong and despicable words. “Kaos… Keith…. I don’t know why he’s coming back for this fight, and this will be a fight” said Goode “But the difference is, I’m going to be fighting to win, while Keith fights to survive. I know you probably think that’s funny, because Keith is bigger than me, stronger than me and tougher than me. But I think you all forget, he was my best friend and i know all of his secrets. I know about his injured knees, that hurt him on a good day and prevent him from training for this. I also know of his bad back, i think it’s spinal stenosis. I know that he’s one bad bump or one chair shot away from never walking again.” Think about it Keith, use your brain… Not your pride for the Comox Valley… Not your ego… Use your brain. You’ve got a grandchild on the way… You’ve got a young son… Don’t you want to be able to get up and play catch with them? Shoot a hockey puck around? Think about it long and hard… Because I am going to hurt you, and best case scenario I’m going to hurt you to the point that you can’t get up in the morning and go to work. Remember, when you look in your hungry sons face, that it wasn’t Barry Goode who did this to you… It was yourself, your ego and your pride for the fans of the Comox Valley. Are they going to be there to help you? Support you? So really think about this, because this isn’t a wrestling match. This will be a life altering decision.”

When told of Goodes comments, Spinks was visibly agitated. ” After all this time, I shouldn’t be shocked by how low class he and his comments are. But he’s in his own level of low class and those words prove it. Also makes me want this match even more. This is by far the most personal match I’ve had. In fact, this is more than a wrestling match, this is personal, this is a fight! Barry, you were right about one thing, I am tougher than you and I’m going to prove it when i beat you, pin you and shut you up!” This ultra personal fight will be worth the price of admission alone but theres other matches as well :

Nolan James will challenge Campbell River’s own Masked Marvel HAVIKO for the Internet Championship. Comox’s Judas Icarus will take on Daniel Makabe, E.O. Mike Becherer will put his championship on the line against Krofton and female wrestler Riea Von Slasher. Plus we will have Cody Washington, TJ Harley, Fire Wasp, Brett Matthews and more.
