Brenneman posts career-best fifth place finish at World Cup snowboard cross race

Carle Brenneman of Comox finished the 2011 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup snowboard cross season on a high note in Arosa, Switzerland last week. On March 24, Brenneman finished fifth, posting her career-best result. She qualified for the elimination rounds on March 23 and moved her way up the ladder throughout the day, all the way to the medal race, where she finished behind fellow Canadian Dominique Maltais. In the seventh and final race of the series on March 25, Brenneman placed 15th. "Brenneman has had a tremendous end of the current season," Canada Snowboard noted in a press release. Brenneman, who now competes out of Whistler, finished 14th overall on the season and was the third best Canadian. Maltais captured the Crystal Globe for accumulating the most points during the World Cup season. sports@comoxvalleyrecord.com
