In January 2007, Derek ‘Harry’ Wright lost his personal battle with cancer. To honour Wright’s memory and celebrate his life, his friends, members of the Pigdusters hockey and football teams, and parents Daryl and Evelyn Wright held a Super Bowl fundraiser. Out of this, the Derek Wright Memorial Trust Fund Was born.

The trust fund, in collaboration with the Comox Valley Minor Hockey Association, have partnered to preserve ‘Harry’s’ legacy. Each year a deserving graduating high school student receives a $1,000 bursary to further his/her education.

Members of the Pigdusters hockey team donate $1,500 to the CVMHA in memory of their friend and team mate Derek ‘Harry’ Wright.
