Comox Valley atom A hockey hosts Chinese team

The Beijing Little Wolf Hockey Club showed its skill at the Sports Centre.

The Comox Valley Atom A Chiefs hockey team (nine to 11 years) and a AAA team from Beijing, China engaged in a friendly game, Thursday at the Sports Centre, dubbed the Pacific Rim Hockey Challenge.

The Beijing Little Wolf Hockey Club is playing 10 games in 12 days during a tour of Vancouver Island. The tour is linked with a Chinese delegation for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

As opposed to “us versus them,” event organizer Louis Gravel said the game was more of a cultural event that can help break down international barriers, Olympic-style.

The teams mixed their players to create an evenly matched game.
