Comox Valley Glacier Kings lose two on weekend

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings lost a seesaw battle to the Port Alberni Bombers, Saturday at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings lost a seesaw battle to the Port Alberni Bombers, Saturday at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.

The home side was first on the scoresheet when Austin Montgomery-Parsons beat Alberni goalie Keelan Hondro three minutes into the opening period. The visitors had the game tied at the end of the first.

Comox Valley regained the lead shortly after a minute into the second period when Matt Teasdale scored. But Alberni would again tie the game at 11:45 and take the lead at 12:50 of the second frame.

The visitors made it 4-2 just 47 seconds into the third period. Tynan Klein-Beekman scored for Comox Valley at 17:09, but Alberni held on for the win.

Yetis goalie Andrew Lowen made 27 saves on the night.

Friday in Campbell River, the Glacier Kings lost 3-1 to the host Storm. Ty Moore of Comox Valley scored the first goal of the game at 6:28 of the first period, but the Storm scored twice in the first and once in the second to seal the win. Lowen, who made 38 saves, was named second star of the game.

The Glacier Kings next game is at home, Saturday, Dec. 4 against Lake Cowichan. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m. at the Sports Centre.
