Comox Valley junior curlers finish 3-4 at BC’s

The Richards rink, largely consisting of Comox Valley players, won three games and lost four in their first-ever appearance at the U21 B.C. junior curling championships in Victoria.

Skip Gracelyn Richards is 15, third Keelie Duncan is 14 and second Bryn Woloshyn is 15. Lead Kate Eisner – who plays out of the Port Moody Curling Club — is 16.

In their Dec. 28 opener, the girls beat the Buchy rink of Kimberley/Kelowna/Vernon 7-3. The following day, they lost 9-3 to team Daniels of Delta, and 8-6 to the Taylor rink of Tunnel Town/Royal City (New West).

On the third day of competition, team Richards lost 7-3 to the Bowles rink of Delta/Victoria, and 9-4 to team Hafeli of Kamloops.

They bounced back on the final day with a pair of wins: 10-7 over the Douglas rink, which has players from Gibsons, Duncan and Victoria, and 10-3 over Calhoun of Kamloops.
