Comox Valley Masters Swim Club makes a splash at provincials

A quartet of swimmers from the Comox Valley Masters Swim Club participated at the provincial championships recently held at the Commonwealth Pool in Victoria.

The Comox Valley Masters Swim Club showed well at the provincial championships in Victoria.

A quartet of swimmers from the Comox Valley Masters Swim Club participated at the provincial championships recently held at the Commonwealth Pool in Victoria.

Many personal best times were achieved and all swimmers brought home at least one individual medal, as well as medals in three mixed relays. The swimmers performed well enough for the team to place 12th out of 29 teams.

Individual results are as follows.

Shannon Montgomery

Gold in 50- and 200-metre backstroke, silver in 50m butterfly and 100m backstroke, bronze in 100m individual medley, and fourth in 100m freestyle.

Glen Christensen

Gold in the 400m freestyle, 400m individual medley, and 200m breaststroke, silver in 100m individual medley, 100m breaststroke, and 200m freestyle, and bronze in the 50m freestyle.

Heather Mackenzie

Bronze in the 200m breaststroke, fourth in 100m breaststroke, fifth in the 50m freestyle and seventh in 100m free.

Nolan Hunder

Gold in the 200m breaststroke, bronze in 400m freestyle, fourth in 100m breaststroke, fifth in 50m breaststroke and 200m free, sixth in 50m free, and seventh in 100m free.

The Masters Swim Club is part of the Comox Valley Aquatic Club. It is for swimmers of all abilities who are 18 years of age or older. New members are always welcome.
