Seventeen swimmers from the Comox Valley Aquatic Club travelled to Winnipeg March 6-10 for the annual Prairie Winter Invitational swim meet competing against clubs from five different provinces.

This is the top meet of the winter cycle for the swim club and the swimmers did not disappoint. Great efforts came from every swimmer and each swimmer was able to obtain a top 12 result at the meet and came away with 30 individual medals, seven club records and a spectacular relay win for our 12 & under girls.

The group was led by 12-year-old Nadia Macluskie who came away with medals in each of her eight races: three gold and five silver.

Other medalists included Jordan Raume (two gold, four bronze), Iris Tinmouth (four silver), Grace Revenberg (three silver, one bronze), Ava Revenberg (one silver, two bronze), Sadie Williams (two bronze), Ian Goodyear (one bronze), Alexa Pauletto (one gold) and Tessa Tinmouth (one silver).

The final medal was a gold medal-winning performance by Nadia Macluskie, Sadie Williams, Julia Revenberg and Ava Revenberg in the 4 x 100 free relay. They broke the club record and have put up what is currently the fastest time in the country so far this season.

Other club records were accomplished individually by Alec Huisamen (50 free, 50 breast and 100 breast) and Grace Revenberg (50 breast). In addition to our 12 & under girls, new 4 x 100 free relay records were also set by our 14 & under girls (Savanna Hall, Laine Perry, Grace Revenberg, Iris Tinmouth) and our 17 & under boys (Alec Huisamen, Graham Tattrie, Jordan Raume and Tobias Macluskie).

Many in the group were able to come away with 100 per cent best times. Congratulations to Savanna Hall, Alec Huisamen, Nadia Macluskie, Alexa Pauletto, Laine Perry, Graham Tattrie, Grace Revenberg and Sadie Williams.

A summary of all top 12 results is below.

The Sharks are back in competition in April with swimmers attending Canadian Trials in Toronto, Western Canadian Championships in Edmonton and regional meets in Nanaimo and Victoria.
