High school basketball is about to resume regular season play.

At Mark Isfeld Secondary in Courtenay, senior boys team coaches Kent Milburn and Blake Tobacca are excited about the abundance of talent among the Grade 12s. These include guards Temwa Mtawali, Kye Kotapski-Tinga, Karman Kondola, Jasper Halvorson and Leo Blake, and forwards Ryder Dumonceau and Duncan Whetter.

The coaches are also pleased with the talent of the Grade 11s coming onto the triple-A team.

With missing basketball last year, the players are excited and anxious for the season to begin.

The Isfeld Ice hosts its first league game of the season Tuesday, Dec. 7 against John Barsby Secondary of Nanaimo. Tipoff is 7 p.m. at the Isfeld gym.

On the Dec. 10-11 weekend, the team hosts its annual Icebreaker tournament. The first game for the team is Friday at 3:30 p.m. against Gulf Islands. Tournament play and results can be found at sportvictoria.com

The team and the school are happy to announce that Isfeld will host the triple-A Island finals from Feb. 24-26.
