CROWN ISLE RESORT and Golf Community hosts the fourth annual Masters On The Island Tournament on April 11-13.

The fourth annual Masters On The Island Tournament goes April 11-13 at Crown Isle Resort and Golf Community.

The event brings together fans of the Masters tournament for a competitive and fun golf buddies event. Each competitor in the Masters on the Island chooses a player in the 2014 Masters Tournament in Augusta to be their partner, a spokesperson explained.

"We combine your net two-day score with your Augusta partner’s two-day score for a tournament total. Lowest team score wins a trip for two on the Vancouver Island Golf Trail."

Golf Vancouver Island's Masters On The Island package includes:

• Two nights at Crown Isle Resort

• Tournament rounds at Crown Isle Golf Course and Storey Creek Golf Course

• Sunday social round on Crown Isle Golf Course

• Return shuttling to Storey Creek from Crown Isle

• Shared power carts

• Warm-up bucket for all rounds

• Friday night Big Break Contest at Crown Isle

• Saturday afternoon private screening of Masters round

• Saturday night steak dinner at Crown Isle

• Food and drink prizes during Canucks vs. Oilers game April 12

• Prizes, friends and chirping.

The tournament grand prize is a trip for two on the Vancouver Island Golf Trail and free entry into the 2015 Masters On The Island as returning champion. There are only 48 spots available: call 1-888-465-3239 to register. The event is open to men and women.

Format

Masters on the Island is a two-day stroke play event on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13. Each Masters on the Island competitor will combine their daily net score with their previously selected Augusta Masters competitor to get a daily tournament score. The Masters on the Island competitor with the lowest combined score (their score and the Augusta pro’s score) wins the 2014 Masters On The Island Tournament.

Your Pro

Your Augusta Masters player can be selected at the time of registration but must be selected no later than Monday, April 8. You must pick four players for the tournament and rank them 1st to 4th in your order of preference. Should your first preference of player not be available for play on the Friday or Saturday (due to injury or missing the cut), your second player will be substituted in.

Flights

The 2014 Masters On The Island Tournament is currently being limited to a maximum of 48 competitors; with one men's flight and one ladies' flight. Players will be competing with handicaps. Handicaps should be verified by a valid RCGA index card or by your local pro. Those who cannot provide a verifiable handicap will still be able to compete using the Callaway scoring system. Last year’s playoff came down to a handicap player and a Callaway player – proof that those without a handicap can still be competitive.

Rules

Standard tournament rules will apply to the Masters on the Island Tournament, with the following exceptions:

All laser range finders and/or handheld GPS devices will be allowed

All hazards and out of bounds will be played as lateral hazards

Maximum score on any hole is double-par.
