The Waverley Cumberland 8th Annual Amateur Table Tennis Championships take place this Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Cumberland Recreation Institute.

Amateur players from across the Island, are welcome to come and experience the awesome inclusive atmosphere of this legendary tourney.

Amateur players are placed into round-robin groups where they get a chance to play lots of games, before being ranked into an elimination draw that helps filter players into similar skill levels, then affords all players, even those that lose their first draw match to play in a consolation draw. In this way, players are guaranteed to still have the opportunity to play much better players, before being slotted into similar skill categories.

“The philosophy in our tourney is to create a competitive, yet fun atmosphere where amateur players get lots of games and yet get pushed to their skills limits, challenged and have fun,” said tournament organizer Adam Kuzma.

The tournament takes place on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Cumberland Recreation Institute at 2655 Dunsmuir Ave. There is a $20 entry fee that goes to support the club. Participants will be required to have their B.C. vaccination passport to play. Doors open at 8 a.m. on Saturday; play starts at 9 a.m. The tourney usually ends at 4:30 p.m. Please contact Adam Kuzma to register and/or for more info email adamkuzma39@gmail.com or mobile at 250-703-3994.
