It’s time to register for the upcoming season of field lacrosse. Sign-up goes Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lewis Park in Courtenay.
Why play? “Field lacrosse gives our players the opportunity to build self-esteem, to put a stop to the never-ending pressure to fit in and be a part of the crowd, to make new friends, to work as a team, and to become a leader in our communities,” said North Island Field Lacrosse Association (NIFLA) president Marnie Evans.
The NIFLA serves all the communities between Sayward and Bowser. Age groups range from players born 1993-2005.
“We are interested in adults wishing to give back and become an official or coach,” Evans said. “Our annual general meeting has been set for Monday, Aug. 13, 7 p.m. at the Salmon Point Pub. Come be a part of the team!”
Registration is ongoing until Aug. 13. “Thanks to Happy’s Source for Sports in Courtenay and Balloons ‘N More in Willow Point, you can pick up and drop off fees and registration forms there,” Evans noted.
