Flag football title won on final play

Young and Old defeat Flaggin' Ain't Easy in championship tilt

The Flaggin' Ain't Easy defence had developed a solid reputation as being almost unbeatable on extra point conversions, but faltered just enough on the biggest one of the season to hand the local Flag Football League championship to Young and Old.

The underdogs, captained by Alex Mertl, hung tough with the defending champion Young & Old squad and even held a six-point lead with one final drive left in the game. But Young and Old quarterback Troy Donaldson has always been clutch in those situations and proved his mettle once again, marching the ball down the field to score on the fourth and final down before adding the title-clinching extra point for the 26-25 victory.

In the third-place final, the Pickpockets' Chris Baltis had an exceptional game, proving elusive with his long stride as he ran rampant on Boomshakalaka en route to a 25-14 victory. And in the battle for fifth overall, the Sack Attack launched their biggest offensive explosion of the season behind the exploits of John Mclaughlin with a 44-31 victory over the Brain Damages in a wide open affair.
