Glacier Kings edged by Storm in OT

Icemen almost hand Campbell River their first loss of the VIJHL season

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings almost handed the Campbell River Storm their first loss of the season.

Almost.

Saturday night in Courtenay, the Yetis built a 2-0 first-period lead over the Storm, but game first star Michael Olson tallied a power-play goal in both the second and third period, and third star Zack Sanderson completed the comeback 59 seconds into overtime to lift the visitors to a 3-2 win.

The North Division leading Storm (8-0-0-0) are the only undefeated team in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League while the Glacier Kings (3-2-1-2) sit third in the North.

Second star Mitchell Hawes (shorthanded) and Liam Shaw scored for the Icemen, who went 0-for-5 on the power play and were outshot 33-26. Blake Pearson took the loss in net while Joey Karrer picked up the win.
