Holowenko now in QMJHL

Former Comox Valley Midget Chief goalie now with Moncton Wildcats

Former Comox Valley Midget Chief goalie Cole Holowenko is now prowling the crease for the Moncton Wildcats.

The Everett Silvertips announced Oct. 26  that Holowenko had gone home to await reassignment. Holowenko has gone from the Western Hockey League to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League as he is now a member of the Wildcats.

Holowenko is 1-1 in two starts with the Wildcats, who are ninth in the 18-team QMJHL. The Silvertips are in fifth and last place in the U.S. Division of the WHL’s Western Conference.

The 19-year-old Holowenko  came to Everett from the Prince Albert Raiders in a preseason trade. He appeared in four games with the Silvertips, posting a 0-2-0-1 record, 6.41 goals-against average and .808 save percentage.

With the acquisition of 18-year-old netminder Daniel Cotton and the return of second-year Silvertip Austin Lotz from injury, reassigning Holowenko brings Everett back to two goaltenders on the active roster.  The Penticton, B.C. native is 13-28-1-2 in 53 career WHL appearances with a 4.15 career GAA and .884 save percentage.
