Over $30,000 in cash and prizes are ready to be won at the Investors Group inaugural Salt Water Showdown Fishing Derby Sunday, Aug. 27.

“We are truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our community and its outstanding support for the Pacific Salmon Foundation, and the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue-Station 60,” said Mandy Baker of Investors Group and organizer of the derby. “The foundation and rescue organization truly have an impact in the Valley, as prizing continues to pour in, helping make the first annual derby an event to remember. You don’t even have to catch a fish to have a chance to win… if you return empty-handed be sure to hand in your fish cards for the Grand Draw Prize of a 9.9 Yamaha outboard motor.”

Thrifty Foods is the sponsor of our hamburger and smokie barbecue during the weigh-in from 5-7 p.m. at Marina Park in Comox. Pick up your derby package for $150. Each registration includes four fish entry tickets, so you can weigh in up to four fish per boat.

Register in person at Tyee Marine 870 Cliffe Ave., Gone Fishin’ 2720 Cliffe Ave. and Pilon Tool Rentals at 123 North Island Hwy. until close on Aug. 26. Fishing boundary areas include North as far as 13-3, 13-14, 13-15, 15-13 and South as far as 14-1, 14-2, 16-1.
