Registration is open for an indoor soccer tournament Dec. 15-17 in memory of the late Tom Butcher.
There will be a co-ed recreation division, and a 35+ co-ed division. Games will be played at the 19 Wing base gym in Comox.
There is a $260 entry fee per team, which includes four games and eight tournament soccer jerseys. The format is five on five, with one female on the floor at all times. Halves are 25 minutes.
There will be a dance party on the Saturday at the Filberg Centre in Courtenay. Tickets are $20, available at Top Notch Soccer in Courtenay and from players on the Division 1 men’s team.
Butcher, who was a defender on the squad, died last December in a kayaking mishap in the ocean near Union Bay.
Proceeds from tourney fees and dance tickets will benefit the local Search and Rescue operation, the Comox Valley United Soccer Club and the men’s team.
