On July 27-31 dressage enthusiasts will have an opportunity to train and ride their horses under the tutelage of Georges Malleroni from Portugal.  The clinic will be held at Country Lane Stables in Courtenay.

Classical Dressage evolved from cavalry movements and training for the battlefield, and has since developed into the competitive dressage seen in show rings today.

Classical riding is the art of riding in harmony with, rather than against, the horse. Correct Classical riding occurs only when the rider has a good seat and a correct and well-balanced body position, moves with the horseʼs motion, and gives and times the aids correctly. Malleroni has devoted his life to these ideas. He studied under the Master of the Portugese School of Equestrian Art, Don Jose Athayde.

During the clinic, riders from the Comox Valley, Parksville, Errington, Salt Spring Island, Mill Bay and Nanaimo will train with Malleroni for one hour daily, riding their own horses. The clinic will encompass a wide range of both students and horses. Auditor spots are available for $20 per day.
