The Sanzana sisters both won silver medals at the Rainier Judo Cup Championships in Tacoma, Wash.
Twelve-year-old Dakota was second in the U15 division, weight limit up to 42kg. Due to a mix-up in registration, she wound up competing in an older division.
Makayla, 14, won silver in the U15, -58kg division. Her hard work is paying off. The dedication that she has been putting into fitness and training is starting to show in her technique.
The girls both train five days a week at the Nanaimo Judo Club. They will be in Ecuador Nov. 11 to compete in the Panamericano 2018.
