Bill Kelly of Glacier Greens Golf Course teamed with Kevin Maxwell of Olympic View Golf Club to take second place at the PGA of BC Pro-Pro Championship, held Aug. 13-14 at Tower Ranch Golf & Country Club in Kelowna.
Kelly and Maxwell shared the first-round lead with 63 and followed that up with a 66. Eventual winners Lindsay Bernakevitch (Shaughnessy) and Dave Zibrik (Seymour) had a first-round 65 but rallied with a 61 to take top spot.
Zibrik and Bernakevitch shot an impressive seven-under par 65 in the best ball format on Monday. They continued their fine play on Tuesday, firing 10 birdies and an eagle en route to an 11-under par 61 in the scramble format, claiming the victory by three shots over Kelly and Maxwell.
For their win, Zibrik and Bernakevitch split the $2,500 first place cheque, while Maxwell and Kelly earned $2,000 for their second-place finish.
