Two members of the Comox Valley Kickers rugby team are part of the Vancouver Island Selects squad that is taking on the Canada U17 team this afternoon at Shawnigan Lake School at 3 p.m.
Kyle Smith and Connor Willis are on the 23-player Selects squad.
The national U17 team will also play the Lower Mainland Selects on Saturday at Brockton Oval in Vancouver. The Canadian side recently split a series against the U18 High School All-Americans in December while on tour in Santa Barbara, California.
“I expect the B.C. event will present our players a similar challenge that the California tour gave us,” Canadian head coach Jim Delaney said.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for these athletes to perform against some of the best U17 players in Canada.”
