Legendary roller derby coach visits Dodge City Rollers

The Dodge City Rollers hosted the assistant coach of the American World Cup roller derby team last weekend. Bonnie D. Stroir, founder of the San Diego Derby Dolls, arrived on Friday to provide an intense, two-day strategy training camp.

Miss D. Stroir's extensive roller derby resume dates back eight years when the sport's resurgence started in Texas and then Los Angeles, where she began her career. After playing with the LA Derby Dolls, she started the sister league in San Diego.

The training focused on strategy in the game, but it was the weekend together at Coastal Trek on Forbidden Plateau where the local team learned from one of the original founders of derby how to run a league, celebrate both winning and losing, and most importantly how to grow as a team and represent the many facets of roller derby true to the sport.

"The Dodge City Rollers would like to thank Bonnie D. Stroir, Andrea and Shayne Stuchberry of Coastal Trek, and sponsor Chances Casino for making this amazing opportunity happen," a Rollers' spokesperson said.
