Logan Yanicks ties for 43rd at national golf tourney

Courtenay competitor finishes 11-over at Canadian Junior Boys Championship

Logan Yanick of Courtenay finished in a five-way tie for 43rd place at the Canadian Junior Boys Championship.

Yanick finished at 11-over 299 after rounds of 72-75-76-76 at the July 29 to Aug. 1 tournament, held at Legends on the Niagara's Battlefield Course in Niagara Falls, Ont.

Austin James of Bath, Ont. took the title with a 15-under 273.

The 17-year-old Yanick, who golfs out of  Crown Isle Resort and Golf Community, is enjoying a good season.

His best finish to date was second at the July 2-4 CN Future Links Western Championship. He was fifth at the May 27-28 B.C. high school AAA championships, tied for 28th at the July 8-11 B.C. Junior Boys Championship and tied for 35th at the May 9-11 CN Future Links Pacific Championship.
