YOUNG HOOP PLAYERS are looking forward to this year's Mac Bros camp.

Comox Valley cagers will have the opportunity to dribble, drive and shoot their way to hoop dreams with the return of the Mac Bros Basketball Camp on July 23-27.

Now in its sixth summer, Mac Bros Basketball Camp co-coaches Scotty and Ryan MacKinnon feel that this summer is going to be their best ever. “Scotty and I felt like the talent and energy levels were at an all time high last summer and we are extremely excited to be able to work with all the ballers in the valley again,” commented Ryan, who just finished a very successful season with the University of Victoria Vikes where he led Canada in three-pointers made and was named a Canada West 1st Team All Star, 2nd team All Canadian and Basketball BC’s Male University Athlete of the Year.

Scotty, having had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the top coaching talents in Canada and Asia this past year, feels likewise, “I think that Ryan and I have progressed a ton as coaches and basketball minds the last couple of years and hope to continue to do so. I am excited to bring some fresh, new ideas to our camp this year and am quite confident this will be the best ever. It is definitely the most enjoyable week of my year.”

Returning coach Ross “Rusty” MacKinnon made sure not to forget the camp's ultimate goal. “Our philosophy is that the campers and coaches have to be having fun! This is a huge priority of ours! I am expecting a ton of laughs, hard work, Bieber tunes and ear-to-ear smiles.”

Each camper receives a camp jersey, highlight DVD, Mac-Bros Sticker and the opportunity to win countless prizes.

The camp will be held July 23-27 with the 6-9 year olds going from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Aspen Elementary, 10-13 year olds from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and the 14-17 year olds from 3:30 to 6 p.m. both at Mark Isfeld Secondary.
